Hiding additional info

Is there a way of hiding an additional info in an account? I want to use an additional info field for reports but it's not something that makes a difference in each individual account so I would rather not have it listed in each account in the general info tab. It should be in administration and in the query and there will be data for each account but it should not show up in the account.
