For example: If the date of birth of the child is 10/20/2010 and the first dose of hepatitis B vaccine was received on 10/20/2010 and the 2nd dose was received on 10/16.2010, the dose would be valid because the minimum interval between dose 1 and 2 is 4 weeks or 28 days. The 4 day grace period can be applied to the 28 days, so as long as the 2nd dose was received at least 24 days after dose 1, it would be considered valid. In the example dose 2 was received 27 days after dose 1, so it is a valid dose of hepatitis B vaccine.

Thank you so much for that piece of information, it may be very helpful for many kids in our school to be in compliance.
If you don’t mind, Please clarify when and where the grace periods may be applied.

Under Public Health Law Section 2164 revised immunization regulations, intervals between the doses of hepatitis B vaccine must be in accordance with the ACIP catch-up schedule.
The 4 day grace period can be applied to the intervals.
If the 3rd dose is less than 8 weeks from the 2nd dose and you have taken into account the 4 day grace period when you calculated the interval of 8 weeks, the student would be out of compliance and required to receive another dose of hepatitis B vaccine or provide a positive serology for hepatitis B.
Please see the Q & A from the School Survey Instruction Booklet regarding hepatitis B vaccine:
Q1: What are the immunization requirements for hepatitis B vaccine?
A1: Three doses of hepatitis B vaccine are required (same as previous requirements). Even though the dose requirements remain the same, the intervals between the doses need to be in accordance with the ACIP schedule. Dose 1 may be given at birth or anytime thereafter. Dose #2 must be given at least 4 weeks (28 days) after dose #1. Dose #3 must be at least 8 weeks after dose #2 AND at least 16 weeks after dose #1. The minimum age for the third dose is 24 weeks. For example: if a child received the first dose of hepatitis B vaccine at birth on 3/20/09, the 2nd dose on 5/20/09 and the 3rd dose on 7/20/09 (16 weeks from dose 1, but not at the minimum age of 24 weeks), the 3rd dose is not valid and would need to be repeated at 24 weeks of age or older.

Please advise.
Thank you.
