Best answer

1) Go to the Addl Fields Tab.

2) Enter the field yo want to use. By Default its set to FName to show the first name of the children. You can choose any field from the dropdown. You can also combine multiple fields for example FName & " " & HebrewClass will show the first name a space and the Hebrew class.

3) Here you enter what text you want between the fields. The default is a comma. So it will come out Moshe, Yaakov And Chaim

4) Is for the last connection if you want to put the word and or something else before the last child.

5) Then you click on add fields. You can add multiple fields. When merging the fields the first field will be named Comma, the second A, the third B and so on.

6) To clear all fields click on the clear fields button.

Remember to chose Change Fields to allow to add the field created to the document.

Is it possible to have the ability to query only some children with the above method ?

Only via choosing locations on top. It will only show that location.

Nice feature.

When trying to do a merge for a particular program selected on the top of the screen the additional field feature is adding all children (not just the ones in the program) can this be fixed?

Also, it would nice if these additional fields were available in the SMS/Email section also!

Thanks so much,

Added. Create a query and Click on the Get Query button. It will now filter the children by the query. You can remove the query after clicking on the Get Query Button.

This is working well in the word mail merge. Thanks for the fix!

Is there any way to get this to work in SMS/email?

You already have the "comma" field in the additional field drop down but it doesn't populate.

All the best,

Added. Please note you must use the period from mail merge screen for it to work. It will work the same like the Mail MErge screen. The Column Name will be AddlCombinedField1,2,3 and so on.

To check the data before sending use the New Show All Data button. Export To Excel will not show this added data.
