jl is the best! they tirelessly worked with us to make this event a success that it bh was! even during the actual dinner, we had a glitch and support was here to help us! kuddos to him and his wonderful support team! we set up a remote virtual server. we did remote desktop in which our users logged onto our server via laptops and ran the jl program. the usb credit card swipers for each user added tons and saved lots of time. We also had a printer terminal set up in which donors were able to receive their receipt on the spot. This helped us keep all organized and clear. all was accounted for and eliminated post dinner bedlam of attempting to track all donations etc. and mailing them out after. no dinner clean up is necessary.

I'm very interested in how this was set up. Did you just use a wireless connection to sign in to the in office network? Or another way? We wanted to accomplish something like you mentioned. We took one laptop to the dinner and signed in to our server using remote access. I found it to be to a little to slow and hard to work with.I'm not sure why, maybe because of the delay, or speed. But if there is a better way I'd be happy to hear about it. One question I have for the original poster. Who was sitting by these laptops? Was it employees or volunteers? We always felt that many people do not feel comfortable with volunteers knowing how much they contribute etc. They feel if someone works for an organization they should be able to trust them. So I'm wondering. If you had these computers with limited access? Or this is just a dinner program so there is not to much personal information about donors on it ? Thanks in advance.

we signed onto the wireless to enable the connection to remote desktop. but our laptops were all physically linked to a router for printing purposes. you might have had issues if there wasn't a strong wireless connection. we had only employees manning these laptops; as we didnt want any mistakes to occur here. the users logged onto their regular fundraising accounts. but im assuming that jl has or can give specific rights to volunteers in which they can only see current info..
