When bus tracking is down parents should not hear bus location

Question

In the last few days the Tracking was down 2 times and the main issue why the the kids are missing the bus is because when the parents call in they hear the that the route has started and the bus is by the school, and 5 minutes later they hear again that the bus is by the school and they assume that the bus is running late, 20 minutes later they start thinking that something is off and by then the bus is long gone

Its possible that in such cases like today that the tracking should not give them the location if the database is not getting location updates from the device ? it should rather say "Sorry there is no info available" or that there is technical issues with the system

The whole mix up happens only because they hear that the bus is still somewhere else, if they will not get a location they will usually wait on time.

The tracking devices are now offline almost every day, please add this feature asap that when the device is offline the tracking line should say that it is.

While the service we had the last 8 years worked with almost no down time, the last month they started having multiple issues. We have since moved to a global provider and are changing the service. 50% devices have already been upgraded. Please contact the GPS team at ext 3 if you have any questions.

But still if it will happen in the future even a few times per year (its not always a issue with the carrier, we already had a few times that for some reason the device failed to get the location for a few minutes), its a big hassle because the parents always rely on it and when it gives them a wrong location that the bus is still at the school but its not there they all miss the bus

I feel that in 2026 the bus manager does not need to manually record messages & we are not monitoring the routes every minute if it goes offline

Can the system do it instead?  I'm just asking that in such cases the system should detect its offline and say "no info available" etc
