what is the difference between a "Payment with detail report","collection report-full tuition"? why are the numbers different?

Collection report is based on charges Which means 1) any payments un-applied to charges wouldn't show up, 2) Dates Will look at the charge due date not on payment dates

Payment with detail is based on payments Which means brings all payments between dates

Example

the date range is from: 02/01/2016 To: 03/01/2016

Charge Due Date: 02/15/2016

Payment received: 04/01/2016

in the payments report it would not show up since the payment was received after the chosen date, versus in the charges report it will show up.

Each report is custom designed for each customer. So same named reports can be different depending on the customer requests. In general payments report show you a list of payments and collection show you balance due. On the collections report we might not include all payments. Certain payments that apply to uncollecteble or future charges might not be included depending on your needs.
