Deleting old charges and pledges

How do I enter in the data when I need to remove/moderate an old pledge or old tuition charge?

our fundraiser is calling for pledges, and we got a deal to pay only a part, and the rest will be forgiven

The right way by moderating or removing the whole charge or pledge, and that will change the report as well Or to put it in as a credit and the income/pledge reports will stay the same amount.

Depends on your reporting needs. You can either reduce the pledge amount. Or enter a credit payment.

I need the Pledge and Payment reports to stay the same

That credit I applied for forgiveness should only decrease the open balance report

It depends what you want to see later in your reports.

If you want to remember that there was a pledge and part was forgiven — keep the full pledge and add a discount or credit for the forgiven part.
This way the report still shows the full amount that was promised, and you see how much was forgiven.

If you don’t need to remember the old amount — you can just change the pledge to the new smaller amount.

Both ways are okay — it depends if you want to keep the history of the full pledge or not.
