how to enter 1 payment for multiple accounts

I have one check that needs to be applied to mutiple accounts (e.g. check amount is 1000 dollars, 200 is a payment for account #2255, 500 for acct #456, 300 is for acct #88999) How should I enter this payment?

Separate in each account. You can write a note so you remember that it is actually the same check.
